College Credit in High School

Advanced Placement

Picture
Advanced Placement, or AP, are college-level courses taken in high school that offer college, as well as high school, credit. High school credit is given to students who pass the class (similar to any other high school course). College credit, however, is granted only if students score well on their AP Exam which is given each May. The best source of information on AP is their website. Go to apstudent.collegeboard.org to learn everything you need to know about AP classes and exams.

Concurrent Enrollment

Concurrent Enrollment courses are college courses taken in high school that offer college, as well as high school, credit. High school credit is given to students who pass the class (similar to any other high school course). These grades will go on a student's college transcripts.
For questions regarding Concurrent Enrollment at CCHS, please contact your counselor in the Student Center or Ben Poulsen, CTE Coordinator.
Click here for more information about CE at CCHS.

Canyons Technical Education Center (CTEC)

Courses taken at the CTEC are college courses taken off-campus at the tech center in Sandy. These courses, offered to juniors and seniors only, offer college as well as high school credit when taken by students who are enrolled in high school. High school credit is given to students who pass the class (similar to any other high school course). College credit, however, is earned only if students earn a "C" in the class. Students who take classes at CTEC also earn grades and credit that will appear on a college transcript.
There are a number of programs available at CTEC - Please talk with your counselor or visit their website for more information: canyonstech.org
Off-campus programs are also available at the Jordan Applied Technology Center. See Ben Poulsen in the room T-122 for more information.
