College & Career Readiness

Picture
Helping students prepare and plan for life after high school is a major component of what we do as counselors at CCHS. We not only want our students to have a successful high school experience, but we hope to help them plan for future success in college, in their career, and ultimately, in life.

In the Student Center we coordinate and conduct both group and individual meetings called "Plan for College & Career Readiness" or "Plan CCR". It is our goal to meet with every student at least once per year. We highly encourage parents to attend their student's assigned CCR meeting.

Current CCR Meetings

Seniors  -  This year, counselors met individually with each senior during the Utah College Application Week in October.  Seniors also participate In the general session presentation during their ELA classes.  This presentation is available below. Counselors discussed important information including:  NCAA requirements, scholarship and financial aid help, senior timeline, college admissions planning, and NGs (No Grade) just to name a few. Seniors are encouraged to contact their counselor if they have any other questions about graduation or college admissions.

Juniors- 11th grade CCR's will be conducted by counselors in November. Counselors will meet individually with juniors and their parents to continue discussions and plans regarding their current courses and post-high school options. Students are encouraged to plan for classes they will take in 12th grade that will help them not only graduate but further their post-high school plans. Counselors emphasize and offer expertise in matching class selection with their career interests. Progress made towards graduation is also discussed. Below is a copy of the handout for the Junior CCR.

Sophomores  - 10th grade CCR's will be conducted by counselors in February through language arts classes. Students will meet in a group setting with counselors who review graduation requirements, high school class options, college credits, scholarship information, and much more. Students are encouraged to plan for classes they will take 11th-12th grade and match their elective course selections with their career interests. Included in the Sophomore CCR, Sophomores are taught how to create their four year plan in the skyward system. Below is the powerpoint from last school year if you'd like to review it.
Freshman  - Counselors will meet individually with each freshman to review graduation requirements, high school class options, college credits, scholarship information, and much more.
